Compared to the ‘ideal’ Harley-Davidson cruisers, the Sportster S looks much sportier. Its design is inspired by flat-track bikes, evident from the sharp tail section and upswept exhausts.
It is powered by a 1252cc liquid-cooled V-twin Revolution Max 1250T engine, which is tuned for better low-end performance. It churns out 122.3PS and 125Nm, which is almost 30PS and 3Nm less than the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250. The engine is enhanced with several electronic aids such as four riding modes, a three-level cornering traction control system, cornering ABS, and engine brake control. The powerplant works in conjunction with a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch.
The bike employs a 43mm upside-down front fork and a linked rear mono-shock, both fully adjustable units from Showa. Braking is via a Brembo radial caliper clamping on the 320mm front disc, and there’s a 260mm rear disc as well. The only alternative in its segment will be the Indian FTR 1200.
